Not trying to step on Andy's planetary emprie's campaign he is setting up, as it sounds cool, but I know there are a good number of people who are starting up new armies at the moment, myself included, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a small escalation league to motivate painting and modeling these new armies.

I would try to make it a flexible schedule, maybe 1 game every 2 weeks, to facilitate more painted minis for each addition, but I definitely would not force painted minis. Also, this will allow people to get games in easier, though games of this size don't take too long anyways. This also means you don't have to focus 100% on this one army for playing and painting.

I was thinking of starting out at 500 pts and working up in 250 pt increments from there, ending at either 1500 or 1750, which would last 2.5-3 months, and we could start as soon as this week, or hold off till after the holidays, to let people get that initial 500, and because of vacation making it hard to get games in.

I'm not sure if I would rather have 1 game per pt level, or try to get everyone playing everyone else at each pt level. Probably the former, and just make sure everyone plays everyone at least once. If I get 6 people, and 6 games, that would work perfect, with the last game being a finale pairing up the best records. What is your thoughts on this?

Also, I want people's opinions on if list restrictions should be included or not. I mean, should someones 750 pt list include everything the 500 pt list did, or would you rather start fresh each week. I am leaning to building on previous lists, as it makes for a more fair list in the end, even if some things in the final lists might be a little weird.

So, what do you guys think? I'd like to keep this, if it does happen, to new armies, as that's the whole point of an escalation league, imo. If I can get 5 people, I think a 6 person league is a good size.

I'm still throwing around the idea of a daemon army, I'm still kinda on the fence about it.

I would wait 'til school resumes before begining a league like this though since finals are fast approaching, and holidays and all that other stuff. I doubt people would have time to paint, plus who knows, maybe santa might give us a box or two of warhammer goodies? ;)

Ok, yes, I will definitely start it off in January, would be silly to do it sooner. So, if anyone is interested, the tentative first 2 week session will be the first week, or so, of January.

I've been thinking about it, and here is my plan for list building:

Any "units" you buy, you must keep. By this I mean, if you buy 10 tactical marines, your next list must have 10 tactical marines, but the equipment they have can change from game to game. For example, this would be legal:

Game 1-
10 tactical marines
pwep, flamer, heavy bolter

Game 2-
10 tactical marines
pfist, plasmagun, lascannon

OR
Game 1-
Captian
lightningclaws, terminator armor

Game 2-
relic blade, storm shield, jump pack

Units that can swap options, like guardians becoming storm guardians, is ok too. However, as transports are their own units, if you buy a transport for a unit, you will have to keep that from then on. You may also add more models to a squad, just not subtracting or splitting squads (combat squads it different). For example this would not be allowed:

Game 1-
10 plague marines
2 meltaguns

Game 2-
5 plague marines
2 meltaguns

5 plague marines
2 meltaguns

Other than those restrictions, Anything that is legal in the list is ok, including sp characters.

Games will be played using standard objectives chosen before the game. As for scoring, right now I am thinking a 10-5-0 for W-D-L, and in game 6, people will be paired by how they scored in the 5 games. To prevent ties, I will also implement secondary objectives, but I am still finalizing how to do those. Something like each player chooses a target unit in the enemy army, and if they kill it, they get their secondary objective. If there is a main score tie after the 5 games, it will be broken by whoever has gotten more secondary objectives.

So, any questions or suggestions are welcome and wanted.

Ok, so I talked to everyone I could tonight about this, and seemed to get some good interest in the idea. If you could all post here so I can compile a list of who all is interested. I think I got interest from both Mike's, both Dave's, Christian, Theresa, and with myself, that would be 7, but if one of you doesn't think you can do it, let me know, as 6 players would work best. If this goes well, we could get a second, even a parallel one going, if there is enough interest.

I'd definitely be in with my eldar. force restrictions sound like they could be a good idea, but it might also be nice to have some way to be able to change out your lists some. especially when starting a new army its nice so try out some different lists occasionally. if you want to keep it with the restrictions you had earlier, i wouldn't protest: just trowing ideas out.

You said you aren't going to force painting, but would there be some sort of bonus for those that each week have a painted army? or for each new unit in your squad that gets painted you can choose to attempt an additional secondary objective?

However you end up running it, look forward to it.

As I said Friday, I would *love* to play in this. :P It would also help motivate me to get my Space Puppies done.
